Why would this guy tell me he's bisexual?

So, I was at this small Yugioh tournament and was battling this guy. It was pretty casual. We got talking, and then he said that he was bisexual and was "sorry if that grosses you out." I said no, and then said I'm gay. He seemed like a really cool guy, and I want to ask for his number or something during the next one. Does him telling me he's bisexual mean anything, or is it just for no reason? What should I do about this situation?
