Outfit for a casual or semi-formal dance?

I have a valentines day dance this Friday. It doesn't matter what you wear but I am planning on something semi formal or casual. I don't want to wear the basic colors red or pink like everyone else. I am looking for something I might have in my closet or something that coasts very little. Thanks for the help!
